Resolving Anxiety
It can be really difficult to reach out for help to start the counseling process. A lot of people feel overwhelmed by the amount of options out there as they try to choose a therapist. Others feel embarrassed by the sense that going to counseling means that they’re weird or broken in some way. Let me reassure you on the front end that the opposite tends to be true: Some of the healthiest and most resilient people I have met are people that I have worked with in counseling.
My approach to counseling is collaborative meaning that in therapy, you and I work together to structure our sessions to best meet your needs and help you to meet your goals. There are a lot of studies that have been done regarding what approaches to counseling work best and there are about as many different approaches out there as there are counselors. What the research has found most consistently is that the best outcomes are achieved when the counselor and client are able to establish a connection where the client feels heard, understood and respected.
To honor this research. I utilize an evidence based practice known as “Feedback Informed Therapy” so that as we work together we can monitor your progress and our connection each session to keep us on track and on the same page.
